Does the house contain ... ?

3 piece-suite YES We have a very comfortable 3-seater settee and 2 armchairs. Plus a matching foot stool.
Baby Facilities   Sorry, we're not yet equipped for babies.
Bath YES We have a full family sized bathroom.
Cable or Satellite TV   Sorry, not yet! Freeview is not yet available in our area
Central Heating YES Both the heating (radiators) and hot water are provided by a gas boiler. Just in case the heating breaks down (but it is very reliable), we have provided 2 electric fan heaters.
Cleaning Materials YES All cleaning materials are provided - we ask each of our guests to clean the house before they leave.
Colour TV YES A large, widescreen stereo colour TV is in the lounge with a small, portable colour TV in the master bedroom. And a small portable Black & White TV/Radio in the kitchen. There is also a colour TV/Video unit in the second bedroom - but no aerial so it can only be used to watch videos.
Corkscrew/Bottle Opener YES Also a Vacu-Vin for re-sealing your wine bottles.
Dishwasher YES A full size dishwasher was installed at the end of February 2007
DVD Player YES There is a DVD player in the lounge and a second one in the main bedroom. Plenty of DVD Films are available to watch from our library
Freezer YES Approx. 4 cubic feet of freezer space. So you only need to go shopping once in the week - or bring some home-made goodies with you! Plenty of room for ice-cubes and lollies!
Fridge YES Again about 4 cubic feet of larder fridge.
Full Oven & Hob YES Electric fan oven and 4 ring gas hob. Grill inside the oven. Light and extractor fan above the hob.
Garden YES Small completely enclosed garden - a real suntrap! And safe for the kids to play in. Patio and lawn with a shed.
Garden Table & Chairs YES The all important relaxing holiday kit! 4 patio chairs, table and sun umbrella.
Hairdryer YES Specially provided for the ladies - or lads with long hair!
Internet Access   We don't provide this in the house, but you can use the link in Seaton Library or via a wireless link using SeatonNet. (Please See below).
Iron & Ironing Board YES Yes, if you must whilst on holiday!!
Kitchen Equipment YES The kitchen is excellently equipped with all pots, pans, cutlery, crockery etc. The latest addition is a hand blender.
Microwave YES The type with the clock that nobody understands - but we do leave the user guide in the kitchen draw!
Own Parking YES Your very own space just outside the garden gate - room for one car only; additional parking can be found in the road outside or along the Esplanade. 3 visitors spaces are provided within the court area.
Picnic Set YES Please feel free to make use of this - and the Thermos flask.
Plenty of Hangers! YES Alayne hates places with no hangers - so she's gone over the top here!
Shaver Socket YES In the bathroom above the mirror together with a light.
Shower YES It's over the bath and works independently from the hot water system.
Stereo Unit YES A full stereo unit is in the lounge - radio, cassette player and a 5 CD turntable. Plus headphones (to keep the neighbours happy). Also a clock/radio/cassette player in each of the bedrooms. Don't forget to bring your own tapes & CD's although we do provide some.
Telephone   These days most people have Mobile phones - so we've not installed a phone.
Toaster & Kettle YES Actually the toaster is better than our one at home!
Tumble Dryer   Sorry, but the kitchen is just too small for this luxury.
VCR YES A good one in the lounge plus plenty of blank tapes to record your favourite programs on. We also supply a collection of pre-recorded videos for you to watch - something for all the family. The TV in the kids bedroom only plays videos.
Washing Machine   Sorry, but the kitchen is just too small for this luxury.
Water Filter YES Yes - using the water filter keeps the kettle scale-free and your tea/coffee tastes so much better for it!

How is the kitchen equipped ... ?

We have a very well equipped kitchen with full cooker (gas hob, electric fan oven and grill) fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. Plus plenty of crockery, glassware, cutlery and cooking utensils. Loads of cupboard storage space and a small kitchen table. There is also a small portable black & white TV/Radio in the Kitchen.

How are the bedrooms laid out ... ?

The master bedroom is very large with a double bed and an enormous built-in wardrobe with mirrors for doors. There are two sets of drawers, one each side of the bed with table lamps. This room contains a colour TV and a clock/radio/cassette player. There are two good quality feather pillows per bed and plenty of blankets - please bring your own sheets, towels and tea towels etc. We have recently bought 4 polyester pillows, for those of you who are allergic to feather ones.

The second bedroom is also very large with two full size single beds and a large fold-up bed for a fith person. There is a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers with a table lamp. This room contains a clock/radio/cassette player. There are two good quality feather pillows per bed and plenty of blankets. We have also added some synthetic pillows for those of you who are allergic to feathers. There is the facility to watch videos in this room, but no TV aerial.

What is the beach like ... ?

Seaton beach is mostly pebbles with small areas of sand here and there. The beach is over a mile long with a nice, flat Esplanade running almost the entire length. There is a harbour at the Eastern end with fishing trips and boats to hire etc. At the Western end is Seaton Hole with the Chine Café. Bathing huts can be hired from the local council on a weekly basis.

What is the neighbourhood like ... ?

The house is set in a small, quiet residential estate, one road back from the Esplanade. Opposite the house is "Lyme Bay Holiday Village" where you can pay day entry to use their swimming pool and other facilities. The beach, shops, restaurants and pubs are all within easy walking distance. You won't need a car once you arrive - unless you feel adventurous and want to explore the wonderful sights and attractions of Devon.

What are the check in/out times ...?

The house is available from 2pm on the day of arrival until 11:00 am on the day of departure. We often pop into the house to check it over during the 3 hour gap.

How & when do I receive/return the key ...?

We'll post the key to you approximately 2 weeks before the start of your holiday. If you live near us in Swindon, then we'll bring it round to you. Please return it either via the post to our home in Swindon or pop it round if you live nearby.

What are the arrangements for linen and cleaning the house... ?

Please bring your own linen including Tea Towels.

In order to keep our prices to a minimum, we ask all of our guests to clean the house before they leave. All cleaning equipment and solutions are provided free of charge. Thank-you.

We do visit the house ourselves once per fortnight to check that all is in order.

How can I access the Internet in Seaton... ?

Seaton Library is just 10 minutes walk from our house. There you will find 4 PC's connected to the Internet for you to use. Your first half an hour is free, after that there will be a charge. Remember to bring your own Library card with you if you have one, if not sign for one when you go in to use the service. Contact details and opening hours for Seaton Library are:

Where is the nearest Supermarket... ?

A fairly large Co-Op is located off Harbour Road towards the town centre, within easy walking distance. It has its own free car park and is open late into the evening.
There is a large Waitrose supermarket off the A3052 road (on the left) beyond Sidford & Sidmouth - about 10 miles from our house. There is also a large Tesco at Axminster – about 6 miles away.
Specialist Bakers, Butchers, Greengrocer’s etc. are located in the town centre, an easy 10-minute walk away. There are also a couple of Banks here (Lloyds etc.), a Post Office, Boots Chemist, Lloyds Dispensing Pharmacy & Woolworths etc.

Do you allow Pets... ?

Sorry but we do not allow Cats or Dogs to stay in our holiday home. Mainly because Alayne is very allergic to dogs! However, small caged pets such as Rabbits and Guinea Pigs are very welcome. We supply an outdoor hutch with a cover.
